Questions, answered.
Short answers to the questions people ask most, each with a link to more.
What is CloudCrane?
It lets the AI assistant you already use make you a small app and put it on your phone. You say what you want in a chat; your assistant writes the app, CloudCrane checks it and gives it its own address, and you add it to your home screen.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You describe the app in your own words, and change it the same way.
Which assistants work with it?
Claude and ChatGPT, Cursor and Cline, and any assistant that can add a remote MCP server: it signs in with OAuth, so there’s no key to paste. The steps for each are in Connect your assistant.
How do I connect my assistant?
Add this address to your assistant as a connector, then sign in when it asks: https://cloudcrane.ai/api/apps/mcp. You do it once; after that, any chat can make you an app.
What does it cost?
It’s free, and working today. Paid plans are planned, with their prices set at launch.
How do I put an app on my phone?
Open the app’s link on your phone. On an iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen; it works from Safari or straight from the Claude or ChatGPT app. On Android, open it in Chrome and tap Install. More on installing.
Is it in the App Store or Google Play?
No. An app installs from its own address, straight to your home screen, with no store in between.
Does it work offline?
Yes. An app keeps a copy of itself on your phone, so it opens and works with no connection, even one that fetches something like a forecast when it can.
Can I change an app after it's made?
Ask your assistant for the change. The app updates on your phone and keeps everything you’ve logged. Every version is kept, so you can go back to an earlier one from Apps. More on changing apps.
Can I delete an app?
Yes, from Apps or by asking your assistant. Every version of it goes, and on phones that had it, it says it was deleted and stops opening. Its address is never given to another app.
Is there anything an app can't do?
It can’t block ads, read Apple Health, send notifications or reach a website it doesn’t list. An app is one file of up to 1 MB, and a workspace holds up to 200 apps.
Where is what I save kept?
On your phone. We never receive it. The only exception is what an app sends to the sites it lists, which you see before you open it. Where your data lives.
Can my assistant see what I save?
No. Assistants can read and change an app’s code, never what you saved in it.
Is an app's code private?
No: anyone with an app’s link can open it and read its code, though not your data on your phone. Keep personal details out of the code.
What happens when I get a new phone?
A new phone starts empty: what you saved doesn’t move with you yet. Encrypted backup and sync across devices are planned.
How is it kept secure?
Every app runs at its own address, can only reach the sites it lists, and is checked before it’s published. The Security page has the details.
Can my family or friends use my apps?
Add them as friends, by their email. Then each of you sees the apps the other shares, and can install them, each with your own data. Sharing one app’s data between people’s phones is planned. Friends and sharing.
Who sees my apps?
A new app is public, so everyone signed in can find it on Explore: its name, icon, what it does, its install link, and your name and picture, never your email. One that seems to hold personal details starts private instead. Turn Public off in Apps to make any app private. Never what you save in an app, which stays on your phone.
Can I make my own version of someone's app?
Yes, if it’s public: tap Remix it on it in Explore, or in Apps under Shared with me. What it does is copied to Apps (never its code), and your assistant builds your version, changed however you ask. It shows as remixed from theirs. Remixing
Can I get reminders from an app?
Not yet: reminders are planned.
Something isn't working. What do I do?
When something goes wrong explains each message and what to do about it. If that doesn’t help, contact us.
How do I report an app?
Use the Report this app link on its install screen, or email support@cloudcrane.ai with its link.
