Explore, friends and sharing
Make an app public, find others on Explore, and upvote, save, install or remix them.
Make an app public and everyone can find it on Explore, and your friends see it under Shared with me. Open Friends in the dashboard and add someone by their email. They see your request when they sign in with that address, and can accept or decline it. If they had already asked you, asking them back makes you friends.
Public and private
A new app starts public, unless its code or blueprint seems to hold personal details: then it starts private, for you to check first. To make one private, turn off Public on it in Apps. While it’s public, anyone signed in sees it on Explore, and your friends under Shared with me: its name, icon, what it does (its blueprint: what it’s for, what you do in it, what it promises and the sites it talks to), its install link, and your name and picture, never your email. They can upvote it, save it and remix it. Turn it off and it leaves Explore and their lists at once.
They never see what you saved in it: that’s on your phone, and we never have it. Like any app, its code can be read by anyone with its link, so keep personal details out of the code.
Installing a friend’s app
Open Apps and choose Shared with me: every app your friends share is there, with who shares it. Tap Install it on one. It installs on your phone like any app, starting empty: what you enter is yours, on your phone, and nothing of theirs comes with it.
Explore
Explore lists every public app. Search it, show only the ones you saved or the ones that work offline, and sort by most upvoted, newest or most remixed. Pick a category, or tap a tag on a card to see every app with it. Your assistant gives each app its category and up to five tags when it makes it. Upvote what’s good and save what you want to come back to.
Remixing an app
Want their app, but made your way? Tap Remix it. That copies what it does (its blueprint) to Apps, never its code. Then ask your assistant to build your remix and say what to change, like “Build my CloudCrane remix of Habits, but for my reading.” Your assistant writes the app itself, and it shows in Apps as remixed from theirs.
Anyone can remix an app you make public in the same way. A remix is theirs to keep, also if you make the app private again.
Unfriending
Either of you can unfriend the other in Friends. Your public apps stay on Explore; they just leave each other’s Shared with me. A request you sent can be cancelled while it waits.
Workspaces
Your apps belong to your workspace. Inviting other people into a workspace isn’t offered in the dashboard right now; friends are how you share.
